If you set down a plate of food in front of your family member and tell them to eat, they may be less inclined to than if they chose the foods themselves. Involve them in the meal planning process and, if they are able, the preparation process. Giving them the choice (even if it’s just between two or three things) will empower them and increase the possibility of enjoying their food. And if they decide they want a brownie after dinner, let them have one! It’s more than okay to treat yourself every once in a while.
